Came accross newspaper that Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar is leaving TM and joining Maybank. Dear told me a few months ago and i just didn't believe it. He is amazing as turning a GLC which privatized many years ago but adopting "goverment" culture and just with 4 years ... it turns into a new leaf.
Dear came accross him and told me about his "way" of leadership. Soft on people but hash on matter. "Cruel to be kind" policy and yet "diplomatic" to me. wei... you think easy? Expanding wings of TM to regional arena and capitalising domestic market hitting it by remarkable margin! Name a few preeminence strategy - VOIP (voice over internet protocol), Competitive culture - punctuality and customer centricity... one of the service highlight most of the time.
hem.. how much does he earns? Does he achieve job satisfaction? He did mention on a few interviews with Bloomberg and Bernama - his challenge "PEOPLE". Getting along and addressing matters with the right attitude person or group. "IT BOILS DOWN TO LEADERSHIP" A smart one will eliminate those with problematic working attitude although with brain out from the team and recruit those with right attitude even without experience. This will save a lot of time by doing right thing at the begining.
When i saw the interview back then I don't really get it, but now I fully understand his notion.

Hey, I met Abdul Wahid when I was a reporter. Soft and hard, like you said and always so polite.
Care to explain your last para?
Thank you.
